  1. People with celiac disease can’t have any type of wheat, even ancient varieties contain gliadin which will trigger an autoimmune reaction. Some people who are gluten intolerant may have different reactions to different varieties, but most probably should also avoid all varieties of wheat. italy still has ~1% with celiac disease, and perhaps ~10...
  2. Celiac.com 04/13/2020 - Current guidelines set by the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition (ESPGHAN), permit doctors to diagnose celiac disease without upper endoscopy in children and adolescents...
  3. You would need to eat gluten daily for at least a couple of months before getting tests for celiac disease, especially a biopsy. Some experts believe it could take longer for the gut damage to be detectable. If it runs in your family, and you've had a "borderline" positive test, do you need a biopsy for you to stay on the diet? Would just going gluten...
  4. Although it doesn't say "gluten-free" on the label, by ingredient it does look to be gluten-free: http://smartlabel.vaseline.us/product/2745516/ingredients?locale=en-us

  6. I do think more research needs to be done in this area, especially in the realm of additional, usually temporary, food intolerance issued triggered most likely by leaky gut around the time of a CD diagnosis, which usually disappear 1-2 years after a GFD. The overwhelming anecdotal evidence indicates they are real, as they were in my case—I could not eat c...
  7. I’m not sure if it’s in this listing, but this might be helpful:
  8. Celiac.com 04/11/2020 - We know that people with celiac disease have higher risk of bacterial pneumonia, especially those who have not received a vaccine for pneumococcal pneumonia, which is recommended for everyone with celiac disease...
  9. It’s important to keep eating gluten until you finish all testing, which can be difficult. It’s also hard to get any tests now due to Covid-19 stuff. There are also home test kits available for ~$100 in case you can’t get screened soon.
  10. I am not sure if you saw the EpliLynx banners here, but they are a sponsor who specializes in GF cosmetics...not sure if they make a face wash but they do make many GF face lotions & moisturizers.
  11. Celiac.com 04/09/2020 - Anyone with celiac disease knows how hard it can be to follow a gluten-free diet. Some studies have shown that even celiacs who strive to stay gluten-free are commonly exposed to gluten. How common is gluten-exposure...
  12. It looks like it is in this part: In a medium bowl, beat together the cream cheese and lemon juice until soft. Add whipping cream and beat with an electric mixer until batter becomes thick. Add the sugar and continue to beat until stiff. Pour into chilled crust, and top with pie filling.
  13. GERD can cause some of the issues you mention, and GERD is a common symptom of diagnosed celiac disease, as are panic attacks: Have you discussed your symptoms with your doctor? They should be able to screen you for celiac disease, and/or determine if it is GERD.
  14. When baking substitutions can get tricky. I'd imagine the answer would depend on what you are making with it. I'm definitely not an expert baker, but will point you to an article by one which may or may not fully answer your question:
  15. They advertise free shipping on dry orders over $39, and only $15.99 for frozen, which is a great deal. When I heard from them last week they were only a few days behind on shipping out orders, but I'll double check that.
  16. Celiac.com 04/07/2020 - In the past few years, clinicians have begun to use of specific sugar residue seeking dietary proteins, called lectins, to topographically map the small intestinal cell surface and goblet cell secretory mucins to...
  17. Anemia is a classic symptom of celiac disease, as is low BMI (see article below). Vitiligo could also have an association. In any case, getting a celiac disease blood screening would be the best way to find out, and you must continue to eat gluten daily until all tests are completed for the results to be accurate. Since there is no way for you to see a doctor...
  18. Awareness has certainly increased, as has the total number of people on a gluten-free diet, and most are on it due to self diagnosed gluten intolerance, or the perception that it is healthier. This has led to many restaurants, even large pizza chains, to add "gluten-free" items to their menu, even when the chance of cross contamination in those restaurants...
