Birthday Present From The Coworkers

My friends/coworkers don't always know exactly what I can and can't have (I'll get a "can you have X?" sort of question), but they remember the main premise, and when they bring stuff in (like cakes) they write down the ingredients from the recipe so I can figure out if I could have it. Generally just ... Yay!

And today, when I got in, they had gotten me two boxes of Open Original Shared Link as a birthday present! It's gluten and dairy free! (Those are my two intolerances.)

Someone had noted that it feels better to share our specialty stuff - makes you feel more normal - and these are definitely share-worthy. So, tomorrow, I'm bringing in the good tea I bought today (my birthday present :) ), and we're going to have tea and biscotti. I'm very excited about this, and feel very normal. :P

Well, Happy Birthday, Tiffany!

What a nice thing for your coworkers to do. I am sure it makes work more enjoyable when your coworkers care enough about you to figure out what you can and can't have, and make a thoughtful gift like that. Have fun tomorrow!

Happy Birthday!!!!

I am so glad to hear that they bought you something you can enjoy. It makes you feel better about the whole situation.

My coworkers made me gluten free cheesecake cupcakes with fresh cheeries on top for my birthday gift. It is tradition that everyone gets their favorite cake on their birthday. I was glad that they made sure I could enjoy my treat.

      Thanks for the reply.

What you’re describing is actually very common, and unfortunately the timing of the biopsy likely explains the confusion. Yes, it is absolutely possible for the small intestine to heal enough in three months on a strict gluten-free diet to produce a normal or near-normal biopsy, especially when damage was mild to begin with. In contrast, celiac antibodies can stay elevated for many months or even years after gluten removal, so persistently high antibody levels alongside the celiac genes and clear nutrient deficiencies strongly point to celiac disease, even if you don’t feel symptoms. Many people with celiac are asymptomatic but still develop iron and vitamin deficiencies and silent intestinal damage. The lack of immediate symptoms makes it harder emotionally, but it doesn’t mean gluten isn’t harming you. Most specialists would consider this a case of celiac disease with a false-negative biopsy due to early healing rather than “something else,” and staying consistently gluten-free is what protects you long-term—even when your body doesn’t protest right away.

Yes, I meant if you had celiac disease but went gluten-free before screening, your results would end up false-negative. As @trents mentioned, this can also happen when a total IGA test isn't done.

I found at Disney springs and Disney they have specialist that when told about dietary restrictions they come and talk to you ,explain cross contamination measures tsken and work with you on choices. Its the one place I dont worry once I've explained I have celiac disease.  Thier gluten free options are awesome.

Have you tried Pure Encapsulations supplements? This is a brand my doctor recommends for me. I have no issues with this brand.
