ARCHIVED Intestinal Infections
Salax replied to spicenator3000's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I suffer from diverticulitis. Its quite painful. Avoid heavy fiber foods, nuts, seeds, and corn (even popped) those get stuck in the pockets. I have to go to the doc whenever I get a flare up for antibotics, because by then it's an infection. Warm baths, heating pads, chicken soup (clear foods/liquids, and light meals..like eggs or plain noddles, etc... -

ARCHIVED Any Chance Their Is Gluten In :
Salax replied to SLB5757's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I too eat fruity pebbles and coco pebbles - No issues here. I am not a super sensitive celiac though either. I do eat things that can be manufactured in the same facility, if it's made on the same equipment I won't buy it. Those are two different statements in my mind. Rice krispies are not gluten free, they have malt in them (barley). As... -

ARCHIVED Celiacs With Gallbladders Removed?
Salax replied to Natascha's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I am a celiac without a gall bladder. I began my gluten-free journey in Feb 2009 and started to feel better quickly, then I kept getting this horrible pain under my right rib cage through my back and shoulder. IT was AWEFUL! I was in the hospital twice, do to severe gall bladder attacks. They found that my gall bladder was only working at 13%, so I... -

ARCHIVED Newbie Here - Hubby Recently Diagnosed
Salax replied to MindytheOrganist's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I too gave away most of my pantry and frozen/frig food to neighbors. Otherwise, I hate to say it, it was trashed....Take no chances...thats me anyways. For dinning out, to add to what everyone else said....I would talk to the manager at the places you want to go and see if they can grill "Fang" a chicken/steak/fish on foil with fresh tongs and only... -
Thanks Calico Jo for that interesting piece of info. Very sad, it's all about money isn't it...

ARCHIVED Why Is This Such A Popular Condition For People To Self Diagnose With?
Salax replied to silvertail's topic in Publications & Publicity
The 1 in 150, is actually down to 1 in 100. Just FYI. That is for Celiac Disease, I don't believe that includes gluten intolerance. Gluten intolerance and Celiac Disease are different. When I dine out I usually say I have an allergy to wheat/gluten, however I actually have Celiac Disease. (btw it's Celiac not Celiacs, I hate that...hehe) My reason... -
ARCHIVED Kroger Sausages

Maybe they don't actually use beer in the making process, just flavors so it's beer flavored? Not sure on that, almost like maple syrup without maple syrup (aka mrs. butterworth, log cabin etc)....donno just a thought. Course I wouldn't eat it though...just to be safe. -
ARCHIVED Wow! Pain In Left Side - What Happened?
Salax replied to Tigercat17's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I too get that pain in that area, it (for me) is due to casien. If eat alot of high casien-y foods, it always hurts right under my left ribcage area. I hope you feel better and that you figure out the mystery. -

ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Lists Not Reliable
Salax replied to JBaby's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ahh...The joy of having Celiac Disease. I hate to say this, probably not the answer you want to hear, but I read every labels every time (even if I bought it before, just in case they change something). If there is really something you want; look it up online before you buy it, then when you get to the store you just check the label again and your... -

I love that come back. I totally would pull that out at the TG dinner table. There are 2 types of people in this world: 1. There are the ones that learn the easy way/willing to learn. 2. There are the ones that have to learn things the hard way. Sometimes you got to "smack them upside the head". She needs a wakeup call, fast! She may only learn... -
ARCHIVED Thanksgiving With The Boyfriend's Family, Without Offending?
Salax replied to HS7474's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Personally, I would tell them. Just casually say, "As you are or not aware I have Celiac disease and I don't want to bother you (them) trying to accommodate me, although the thought is greatly appreciated, I would rather bring my own food." This way too they can worry about everyone else's dinner prep and they are clear to not worry about yours. Because... -

I am loving the Bounce letter..LOL Seriously they start with the gluten allergy, then go to say Celiac Disease..."Hello, those are different!" Then to suggest that gluten on the skin isn't an issue, what about those with DH? Can't they have a skin reaction? Maybe I am wrong here, but common! Don't try to sound educated in something you -
ARCHIVED If It's An Autoimmune Response, And The Amount Doesn't Matter...
Salax replied to StacyA's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Two things.... 1. If I get glutened the last thing I want to do is eat more of the stuff that makes the pain happen. Not to mention, when I get glutened I don't want to eat anyways. 2. If I get exposed to a cold and then get exposed to another cold, I think the body still responses to the secondary cold and thus you are sicker longer than you would... -

Ok since we are on a Celiac forum, I don't get why people call Celiac...Celiacs? Where did that "s" come from? I have Celiacs disease? No, it's Celiac, there is no s. My best friend since I was eight, she says fixing dinner. I use to ask her if dinner was broken. She would glare at me....hehe. I love her! But I have to tease her. She does the same... -
I agree with calico jo here. And to add to that, our bodies weren't meant to digest chemcials, let alone break down the crap that's in the vaccine. I also agree with calico jo here that celiac (as many other diseases) is because of the food we eat. We (especially in America) eat horribly! There is little to no nutritional value in our food, it's full of crap...
