  1. Hi Anne I am sorry - I have only just read your post of nearly a week ago. You certainly sound as if you have been through the wars. A rotator cuff tear is supposed to be very painful. I wonder if the doctor was referring to costochondritis. I think that is interesting what you are saying about nerves in the neck/spine. I find when I am...
  2. Hello Lacey I am so sorry you are going through all of this. Have you had an endoscopy/colonoscopy more recently?
  3. Hi Oli, I can relate to your symptoms. My joint pain was in my sacroiliac joints; I had tingling in my hands, calf muscle (left) and feet, sometimes woke up with numb arms and hands; some months after going gluten free I started to experience burning in a band around my rib and also hip (both left sided). The SI joint pain I gather is common in...
  4. Hello Wild Oats and welcome to the Forum I would imagine it would be worth pursuing a possible gluten connection with a more clued up doctor if you can. You may wish to share with the forum what part of the States you live in (or perhaps you are in another country?) as someone might be able to put you in touch with a hospital that can help. I am sorry...
  5. Hi Anne I think it would be a very good idea to see your audiologist. I live in the UK and will always be grateful for the National Health Service but increasingly I feel doctors are under so much pressure we can help them a lot by connecting these dots for them - although some might not welcome it, others do. You could well be onto something as isn...
  6. Interesting about the liver enzymes - they can sometimes hold clues. Any chance you can get a copy of those to share with us? It sounds like you might be having a flare of something along the lines you are suggesting. When you were away were you cooking all your own stuff? I am thinking about what cyclinglady has being saying and I am just wondering...
  7. I'm wondering if you can identify anything, anything at all that you have been eating or drinking that is a bit different to normal. Could there be something wrong with the water supply to your home (I guess if you live with others they would be feeling ill too?) Also, this burning thing, I have an umbilical hernia caused by a pregnancy... I am surprised...
  8. Hello Laura Welcome to the forum. I'm so sorry you are in all of this pain. I have a few questions. You mention the pain around your kidneys. Is there any chance you could have a kidney infection of some sort - I wonder if this is one of the things the doctors have looked at? What about the water sources you drank from whilst away...
  9. Hi again. Kam - it seems that six weeks is the recommended length of a gluten trial in the UK if you need to reintroduce it and I am fairly sure my own doctor said at least two slices of normal toast every day would be adequate - but you might want to check that. Open Original Shared Link I took it upon myself to eat everything I could that I...
  10. A couple of other things I forgot to say. The physical manifestations of coeliac disease are very real but if my own experience is anything to go by anxiety just makes everything a whole lot worse - too much adrenaline does a lot of strange things to us. If you are feeling very anxious try to see what steps you can take to alleviate anxiety. There...
  11. Hi Kam - I have just read your older post, too, and see you are in the UK? Am I right? I'm in the UK and I am only too well aware that the wheels role slowly in the NHS for these follow up appointments with a gastroenteroligst and then on top of that, the actual biopsy. I see from your previous posts that going private is not an option - I think...
  12. Great words of advice there. I have had my own fair share of weird blood test results but now try to keep in mind Gemini's wise words about autoimmune diseases affecting the figures, advice she has given me before too. I had elevated protein for a while and worried myself sick. It wasn't until I was bold enough to raise this matter direct with my gastroenteroligist...
  13. So interesting about the ham, cyclinglady. My British nutritionalist told me never to go near ham or bacon. I actually have dared to have a couple of slices recently because our labeling laws in Europe are supposed to stated if gluten has come anywhere into the manufacturing process, although one brand - I think Tescos - actually state theirs is gluten...
  14. I am sure you will get a lot of good advice in response to this post and there are quite a few old posts regarding Christmas and Thanksgiving which are worth reading. I can tell you the wrong way to go about it, though. I stayed with my mother-in-law a couple of years ago. My husband had mentioned over the phone that I had a problem with gluten...
  15. Who'd've thought things could get so complicated. I too think I might have a problem with eggs now. Earlier I was sharing with Icelandgirl a thought for today from none other than Winston Churchill. Open Original Shared Link KPO gals, KPO!
  16. Sorry to hijack the post, Icelandgirl! Thanks so much, cyclinglady. There is a link with exercise in cold weather for me, I am sure, as my skin heats up, and where it touches belts, elastic, etc. We have some over the counter antihistamine that needs no prescription that I have taken before and forgotten about - I might just take a couple of teaspoons...
  17. Hello Icelandgirl. You know, I would have done exactly the same thing! But I have googled this issue about CT scans and there does seem to be a consensus that what risk there is is small. Try not to dwell on this - rather, think that you have at least figured out what is going on and let's face it, your lifestyle is so healthy it will more than compensate...
  18. Hello and Welcome Foxtrot. That's good advice from Judy. Also, you may find you have temporary lactose intolerance. I had terrific bloating and lower abdominal pain when I was first diagnosed. I came off dairy products for a while and felt a whole lot better. I then found that I could tolerate hard cheese like cheddar and had small quantities...
  19. Well one thing at least - it forced a CT scan of that area and it must give you terrific peace of mind that they found nothing else to worry about. Not to underestimate the pain of kidney stones, but they can be dealt with. xx
  20. Oh icelandgirl .... I am so sorry! As we often share, There Is Always Something! Poor you! Do you think this might explain some of the other symptoms that you have had over the last few months? Maybe once this problem is addressed you might get relief from some of you other symptoms, I really hope so. It seems so unfair as you eat super healthily...
  21. My nutritionalist told me to say allergy because some people only understand that word. I can't quite bring myself to say it, though! I have never been asked the preference or allergy question myself - yet . I haven't dared eat out for months but now I am again and what I now find myself doing is ordering and then when everyone else has put their...
  22. Hi - I'm just wondering if the pain you are experiencing might be in your sacroiliac joints. Celiacs sometimes have problems with these joints. I thought I had back trouble but my chiropractor put her finger on the pain (literally!) and it was my left sacroiliac joint. I'm still not sure what sets it off but it can't be gluten as I don't go anywhere...
  23. Hello and welcome to the forum. I note you are spelling coeliac with an o as well as an e...... Does that mean you are writing from the UK? I ask not just because I am British and that is the way we spell it over here - not sure why we do though? - but if you are writing from the UK I think you will find it very easy to get a test at the moment: one...
  24. Bartfull Thank you for all the help and encouragement that you have given so many people on this site. God bless you. xxxxxx
