ARCHIVED White rice causing stomach issues?
Jmg replied to Fbmb's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Are you using the rice that comes in pouches rather than loose? The pouch rice can have gluten added sometimes. I avoid it! -

ARCHIVED White rice causing stomach issues?
Jmg replied to Fbmb's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I eat jasmine rice from Thailand without issue. I think cross contamination unlikely as wheat isn't a large part of the diet out there. So there's the possibilities Ennis alludes to above. One other thought is the pan/cooker which you're using, is there any chance of cross contamination there? -
ARCHIVED Help with gluten withdrawl
Jmg replied to Karlyrenee31's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I found the first weeks gluten free very up and down. One thing which helped immensely was focussing on a good diet, in particular breakfast and lunch. I started eating an omelette every morning, with different fillings each day, including onions, kale, spinach, mushrooms, bacon, tomatoes, (bell) peppers etc etc. This set me up for the day, with a green salad... -
ARCHIVED Struggling with food - Please Help
Jmg replied to ConfusedCeliac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hello and welcome Ouch! Ok, that's tough. However, you say newly diagnosed, how long have you been gluten free? It could be that some of those intolerances will go as you progress on the gluten-free diet. A lot of celiacs are able to reintroduce dairy for instance. How were your food allergies diagnosed and by whom out of interest? Open Original... -
ARCHIVED Think I'm Going Crazy
Jmg replied to philsguy94's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi and welcome You may well be on the right track. All those symptoms could be gluten related. Just don't cut it from your diet just now, you need to be eating it regularly for accurate testing. This post has some links you may find of use. Best of luck! -

ARCHIVED Am I a Celiac?
Jmg replied to HARRYE10's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm guessing you're in the UK like me? I'll go back to our spelling! So if I were you I'd prepare thoroughly for the meeting with the GE. Make some short notes of each and any symptom, any correlation you think you've noticed with diet etc. It's really easy to forget something you meant to mention during a consultation, so do make notes in advance. ... -

ARCHIVED I need help interpreting labs! I don't return to Dr. until end of June
Jmg replied to Fibromom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Not at all, it's perfectly natural. Discuss with your doctor. You have symptoms that are suggestive of celiac but test negative. If they feel it's been properly excluded and don't want to test further then consider trialling the gluten free diet for several months. Lot's of people who tested negative but have thyroid or stomach issues find that going... -
Hello and welcome You've replied to an old thread, it may be better if you could repost as a new thread in this section: https://www.celiac.com/forums/forum/13-celiac-disease-pre-diagnosis-testing-amp-symptoms/ as more people will see it! Maybe a mod will move it (hint hint!) They're unlikely to have ran a celiac blood test. That's what you need...

ARCHIVED Good lunches for work?
Jmg replied to Victoria1234's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That's brilliant! Right up there with frying an egg on your car bonnet (hood). Don't try that in the UK though, you'd be there a loong time... -
ARCHIVED Positive blood test, but told "probably not celiac"
Jmg replied to sstar's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
That seems a little odd. A positive on the celiac test shouldn't need corroboration from other tests? -
It looks like you're not alone: Open Original Shared Link This one doesn't mention it directly, but it looks like it can be auto immune related: Open Original Shared Link

Sadly you've not received good advice from your doctor. The stats show the majority of celiacs do not present with primarily intestinal issues. This makes it simple. If you're not pursuing a diagnosis you need to proceed as if you have one. You need to adjust, both practically and emotionally, to being fully 100% gluten free permanently. It's about...

ARCHIVED Am I a Celiac?
Jmg replied to HARRYE10's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Harry if you've got a copy of your test results post them here so we can see which tests were ran. Not every celiac shows on the common tests, but some do on some of the alternative ones. Even if you test negative, Gluten may still be the issue as Tessa says above. It was for me. Just don't start the gluten-free diet until your sure the testing... -
ARCHIVED tongue inflammation, reflux, GI bleeding, depression
Jmg replied to at1992's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There's no right or wrong answer, there are pros for getting the diagnosis, certainty, ability to warn relatives, monitor children, ensure you get gluten free food if your hospitalised etc. On the flip side, there's no treatment other than gluten-free diet and some who have already seen benefits of gluten-free diet for them cant face the challenge and the... -
ARCHIVED tongue inflammation, reflux, GI bleeding, depression
Jmg replied to at1992's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello and welcome I don't have celiac. I do have several symptoms in common with you and I do have a problem with gluten, so NCGS for want of a better term. A celiac response to gluten involves the immune system so there certainly can be a delay between ingestion and the body producing the antibodies. That would correlate with your tongue aching... -
I don't have milk in liquid form any more, so I switched to coconut flavoured milk (rice based) for cereal, really like it. Then I take coffee black which I've also adjusted to. For an occasional treat I'll have a soy latte, tastes a bit nutty but I'm used to it now and it's as much about the visual treat of sitting in a coffee shop with a big milky coffee...

Are you now gluten free? Urinary issues are definitely a celiac / NCGS symptom. I used to drink tons of water / other drinks and had to urinate quite frequently when I was eating gluten. Once I stopped this was no longer the case. I still have the urge to urinate though, but far less frequently!

I don't drink milk anymore but I do find that dairy, well milk in particular, is really bad for my skin. I still have yogurt occasionally and I will have milk in processed foods so perhaps I could get an improvement if I was more rigorous and cut it out completely, but that would take out a lot of foods I like and I guess I'm either not that strong willed...

ARCHIVED Tests, tests, more tests and more questions!
Jmg replied to Casy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Of course you shouldn't cut gluten unless you need to. But, there's one point I tried to make in the FAQ but bears repeating. If you go through the diagnostic process and test negative for celiac, please give serious consideration to trialling the gluten free diet regardless. The reason for this is that some people test negative, but gluten is still...- 6 replies
