Omg...i Might Be On To Something

Recommended Posts

Andrea, my carob cake was interesting, the texture and moisture were good but the combination of carob and maple syrup was a little odd, might have been the coconut milk too. I think it might be better as more of a spice cake, are there any spices that you think go particularly well with carob?

rinne, my Mary Poppins, cake sounds so good- yum!! I saw a post down in the recipe section today about a crockpot chocolate fudge cake :o I was tempted to make it...

but NO!

I've been on a roll with no chocolate and sugar so I was good.

Hey guys..... how goes it?

Better night tonight..... still really sore though.....

How is your tummy. I really worry about you

I understand Tavi, especially since you have a unique name. Maybe you can talk to the board admin about changing your board name??

I know but I can't think of a name, I thought maybe ricki tiki but I

am not good about things like this. Something so you would always know it's me. If I still keep my name in the signature would that still show up at google. Also, is there a privacy wall we can ask that Scott put up. Thanks and good night, hoping for a better tomorrow

Nighty night :)

LOL. My night is just beginning...... <_<

oh Karen, that just makes me hurt for you.

What exactly do they say causes it, or do they know? Are there other food issues triggering it?

With the Memphis City blues.....:lol::lol:

I don't know why I think that is a line from a song.

or what about...

Well, apparently it is common for collagenous colitis to be nocturnal, and BOY OH BOY, mine sure is!

I go for my endo on August 16th, we're hoping to see some nice little villi standing at attention, but I have my doubts......

Hugs.

Karen

Good questions. Maybe e-mail Scott and run all this by him? What if you put astericks on either side of your name, would it still come up on google if it were "*Tavi*"??

I just don't know. Sorry I can't be more help.

Andrea, sorry you are lonesome for Mitch, we will cheer you up with lots o laughs :)

Thanks Julie. :P

I'm back but need to find some food. I didn't intentionally starve myself today, just worked out that way. I ate my only meal at 3 and I'm STARVING. I'll be back.

See, that's what happens when I'm busy and my hubby isn't here to feed me. He's always real good about that on the weekends. :P Doesn't like me only eating two meals so he makes sure I get three on the weekend. I am not fond of cereal and go through the food blahs so two meals works for me. Kids are in bed and will hopefully stay there. Talitha doesn't like it when daddy isn't home.

I will have to google collagenous colitis. We like a little scientificness around here

Thanks Julie. :P

Had good news this morning. Took Rhiannon to the orthopedic surgeon for her follow-up. Her collarbone is completely healed so all systems are go for her getting back to soccer.

Also got some more good news yesterday. Remember how I told you guys that when I moved out here 1 1/2 years ago, I put Mom's name on the list for the Seniors Housing here so I can get her out of Scarborough. Well, I called the office in charge of the seniors waiting list and spoke to a really nice lady. I asked her are there any more options to put Mom on so I could get her out here sooner as I am really worried about her being by herself in Scarborough (getting much too violent), and also that I am basically responsible for her shopping, doctor's appts, etc. etc..... Anyway, we got discussing how the government really needs to put more money into taking care of the seniors as the demographics of our population show that what is currently a 5 year wait list will be a 15 year wait list a few years from now with all the baby boomers..... Hello, McFly, it's not rocket science here, it's basic common sense....... Mom lived with me, Terry and the kids for 5 years while she was on the waiting list for seniors apt. in Scarborough, and now she has to wait all over again! Anyway, this lady totally agreed with me and said it was a shame how seniors today are on the back-burner in the government's eyes..... I told her that I understood that there is nothing further we can do and thanked her for her time and assistance......

Well, yesterday, this same lady called me and said that a one bedroom apt is coming available September 1st right here in Bowmanville! In fact, it is in one of the buildings that I put Mom's name on the list for! We go see it tomorrow at 1:00 p.m....... I sooooooooo hope this works out, because it would be awesome having my mom so close to me again! I have no idea what miracles this kind angel of a lady performed, but I thank my lucky stars for it! It just re-inforces my belief that you catch many more flies with honey than with vinegar......... Being nice is always the better way to go......

I will be so relieved when Mom is out here, that way, for those days that I have had a really bad night previously, Mom will be on hand to help out when needed......

HEY, LISTENING TO THE COLBERT REPORT AND HE JUST MENTIONED SOMETHING ABOUT A GLUTEN FREE BAKE SALE!!!!!! PUT IT ON!!!!

Here I am

Stuck in the middle with you"

That is a great tune but what is it?

Julie, I sought out carob in desperation once I decided to do a chocolate fast  I knew I would have to have some substitutes on hand for the withdrawal. The carob is so naturally sweet I only used a little maple syrup, no sugar for me either.

I really wonder what the synergistic effects are of highly processed food cooked in a micro-wave. I had one years ago, I think my mother-in-law bought it for us - she loves to buy appliances, but I rarely used it because I didn't like what it did to the flavour and texture of food and then we just gave it away. Do you know there are restaurants where literally no cooking is done, only packages opened that are then micro-waved?

I wish more would ask who's interests are being served by our having to go so fast that convenience has become everything, when did we lose the joy of simple food and the time to enjoy it?

There is a really interesting book by a woman named Linda McQuaig called "All You Can Eat", to quote from the cover, "Despite dizzying economic growth, we seem to have gotten things fundamentally backwards: we're allowing society to serve the interests of the economy, rather than insisting the economy serve the interests of society". It appears to me that our appetites are being programmed to serve the corporations that would sell us the highly processed foods and a lifestyle of consumption requires more work which means less time which means fast food..... I'll get off my soapbox now.:lol:

I don't work outside the home, my sweetie makes enough that we can live simply on his salary and we decided we'd rather have less stuff and more leisure. It has been a blessing that we made that choice because for the past year I couldn't have worked. I'm beginning to feel better now but I won't be working for anybody else. When I think about doing a cafe I know I would have to limit what I could do but I wouldn't have to do it alone, I've got all these great nieces and nephews to hire. :)

Nikki, I think boils are caused by a staph infection.

Yeah,I've heard that too.My little 'boil man' got a staph infection in his chest wound after heart surgery :( Ugh-that wasn't a good time.

The docs said it's a bacteria that most of us have on our skin.

Don't see how you can prevent more boils if this is the case?

My mom and my sister just wanted me to stop by and say hi. They get on here alot. Oh and by the way my name is chloe. :P

Hi Chloe!! :):)

Nikki, I've probably said this too many times but garlic works wonders for boils.

Do you apply it to the skin,or eat it??

Karen-Good luck with the biopsy.

Them little villi guys had better be growing.!!!

Bev-sorry you are feeling so sick

Vincent-Glad the test went okay

*Sigh*. Feeling increasingly nervous about flying on Sunday :(:(

Hope you are all ok :):)

I've never tried applying it topically but I suspect you would stink. I've read that garlic is a blood purifier - a natural anti-biotic and anti-viral so it would make sense that it would work on infections. I have taken the garlic oil capsules at the first sign of a boil, probably about 6 capsules a day until it faded away without coming to a head, I've done this at least a half dozen times. I have no scars except from the first boil I had which was a carbuncle, so it was actually about 10 boils in one. I don't know what dose would work for a child.

And good morning everyone.

Hi Tavi! (premature post) I see you...

heard a rumour (well saw it on the STanford thread) that you're NOT going to the Celiac conference? :( NO, say it ain't so!!! I really wanted to meet you there. Donna and I are going (yay Donna! I"ll recognize you by the Bumble crumbs on your face, right? I"ll have chocolate from the Nuggets smeared on my chin)...I don't know who else at this point....you must join us!

Yah, I was thinking I would pin an empty Bumble Bar wrapper on my body somewhere for you to spot me.:lol:

Floridian, I am a dumb bird. It took me all this time to hit F5 to see what everyone is talking about. I want to know how you got a photo of me? But, I do think a bow would be nice in my short hairdo and I am so partial to red.

Wonderful news about your daughter and your mom! Yay...also glad you had a better night.

UGH, can't sleep, need my friends :blink::blink::blink::blink::blink:

Premature posting...you and me both...I woke up at 1:00 a.m. with the worst abdominal pain and couldn't get back to sleep.....ugggg.

*Sigh*. Feeling increasingly nervous about flying on Sunday :(:(

I'm hoping its one of the safest times to fly...security will be extra tight for a few weeks...

Wow, it was a really slow night...it only took around 20 minutes to catch up, lol.

Welcome Tiffany...You're on the list I see, so that means you're an official resident of Rachelville.

Does diet coke have histamines, lol? I'm thinking that has to be the next thing to go...and now I'm also considering a fructose intolerance...sheesh. Good gravy, soon there won't be anything left. I'm so tired...glad I get to leave work early today even if it IS to go to the dermatologist...we're also having a BBQ at work today so basically my work day ends at noon. :P

Guest BERNESES

Hi all- Karen- I'm soooo glad that you got good news about Rhiannon and your mom. I hope that the apartment works out- it would be so nice for you guys! I wish my dad were a bit closer too (he's only 45 minutes away but still).

Now we just need to get some good news about YOU :D I'm worried about you, my dear Canadian friend. I hope you endoscopy finds those darn villi have multiplied out of control and are standing up ready to digest and heal!!!!!!!!!

I find out my results today  I felt much better yesterday. Seems as long as I don't eat, drink, breathe or move, I'm fine. Other than that, welll....... But I DO NOT CARE- If I have to be carried over my husband's shoulder like a scak of gluten-free flour, I am getting on that plane tomorrow. :D

Donna- no chocolate and no diet Coke????????? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! I've given up everything at this point. the diet Coke is the only friend I have left.

Karen, that is wonderful news about Rhiannon and your Mom. Yesterday was a great day for news. And you also slept better.

Beverly, have a wonderful trip to the Northwest.

Donna, I now am able to only drink diet 7-up as there is no corn syrup in it. Good luck in figuring this out. I hope it is not corn as that is worse then gluten to get out of your diet.

If emu's are anything like ostriches, they bite. But the babies are probably harmless. :P:lol:

I had thought an emu was nice until we went to the wildlife safari in Winston OR. An emu was coming up to the car and Mitch told me to roll up the window. He was as tall as the car (little metro). I'm surprised he didn't bust the window or put a dent in the car he was pecking so hard. I'll never think they are such cute big birds any more.

My step-aunt and uncle raised exotic animals. They had ostriches, but had them fenced in because they are nasty. The emus ran around the property and were quite friendly and playful. One came up and pinched me on the behind in a playful way. Maybe the ones on the Safari weren't friendly because they were more wild, while these were raised by humans in the same way my pet birds were. All birds are wild, it's just some choose to be friends with humans because the human takes good care of them.

Premature post, btw.

MOrning all.....yup, pretty quiet here....which is OKAY for me as I'm stuck in the mire over here of getting this house/garden in order....ugh! Holy heck tackling the reading of this thread was taking a chunk of time (of course, many posts were yours truly  ) and then, the computer was always screaming at me from the back room.....I have been successfully resisting a bit.

Karen - - good news! How great it will be to have your mom near - I do think this will work out!

Donna - I have to try a Bumble Bar before I meet you :P - - Whole Foods?

TIFFANY - - - love your plucky spirit and just getting RIGHT in there with your application.....ha ha you should see OUR application - there are maybe three questions (Andrea - you must show her :) ) but I do like how you applied and then right in the next post, there was your job....what a hoot! (may I also tell you this about Tiffany, a generous spirit is she: she posted about her Bare Minerals makeup that she was giving away a few weeks ago - I was the SECOND inquiry so didn't get it - - but then she had MORE to give away - she contacted me, what a delight, adn I just got three Bare Essentials eye shadows, some blush, Mineral Veil - - just fantastic! am loving it, BTW! Andrea - - also don't forget to add to her job description that she is a Mary Kay rep so we will have our gluten-free lipsticks in R-ville :) )

Oh and hey, isn't that Penguin's little Kiwi Kitten, if I'm not mistaken, on your shoulder??

Penguin - how are you recovering from that very bad Girl Scout debacle? :(

Tavi - - :( Wanted to see you at Stanford.....

Andrea - good thing MItch will be there to take care of you today...

Dave, The - - - - had a great guffaw maaaaaaaaaaaaany pages back about you not talking about your "periods and poops" YET....just wait.......

Hi Rinne! Sounds like a good life.....but I'lll tell you guys something, how would I LIVE without my microwave :o

Hello to Carla and her girls - very cute :)

I know I've forgotten things but must head out......see you guys later......

:)

EDIT - - Nikki and Bev - - will have you in prayers for your airline travel.....guess you'll have to buy all your cosmetics and products at your destination spot? Hope you both have a great time and Bev, I do hope your husband does not have to carry you like a - - flour sack, was it? :)

Hi Susan,

You did a good wrap up.

I already added Tiffany since she filled out her own application. I knew that Chelsea took Tiffany's kitten. Such a cutey he/she is. I miss my kitties. :(

I'm glad things have been quieter, need to do something aside from sit here all day.

I'll be back a little later.....during Rachel's lunch, when Celia comes on....at least those two have some set times. Everyone else seems to be like me and in and out all the time.

Hello all. Day 2 of Robbin's trip....hope all is well with her and family.

Picard, Ryan.....how are you two doing. Not as much reading, maybe you'll get a chance to post.
