  1. Intense fatigue was an inseparable "buddy" for me for 30+ years. I don't have it anymore. The situation was very complicated, I have been peeling layer after layer of my onion of ill health off of me. To help I used diet, supplements, exercise, and prayer. Now you know what is wrong and you can start to peel the layers off to. I hope someday to hear...
  2. I do 27 carbs to 2-3 oz of protein as well as 1 TBSP fat per meal at least 3 times a day. These numbers were recommended by my chiropractor that has been trained in nutrition. You can eat more than that, but the proportions should stay the same. I also suggest that digestive enzymes can help break down your food until your body can heal. Dee
  3. A food intolerance test helped me. Please don't let it discourage you if others don't believe in them. I had brain fog (though evidently not so heavy as yours) for 30 years. Let's just say that brain fog and I are NO LONGER FRIENDS. I came up allergic to nearly everything. My solution was to change to unusual foods that I had never eaten. I also did...
  4. It is a strange thing in natural treatments,(such as gluten free diet) so things seem a little worse, the better one gets. This is all what I think having suffered from celiac 30+ years undiagnosed. I think what really happens is that the body begins to recover and then we realize when things slip off. Also, it seems to me the body gets better at letting...
  5. MagentaDarkAngel, Beloved if you are out there, and other interested parties: I had swelling included behind the knees and actually including nearly everything from head to do. That resolved when I removed all foods that I was allergic to and replaced it with new foods. My meats include bison, elk, duck, yak, and lamb. My vegetables include spinach...
  6. I began my trek about 3 years ago in much the same way as you. It is so overwhelming emotionally, physically, and spiritually. My family did not understand, thought I made things up, or maybe I wanted to be super-health-lady. time went by and they watched what happened to me. Whereas my body had displayed mostly inward symptoms, as I recovered my family...
  7. Happy for healing! Dee
  8. Specific Carbohydrate diet is S.C. D. You can google it and find more information. It is a diet for helping to heal the gut after celiac disease. A book about it is called, Breaking the Vicious Cycle. I found the food satisfying and delicious. I have no problem eliminating soy. Eat meat, vegetables, nuts (if tolerated) and I hope it will help you get...
  9. Onward, you can heal from here in all respects. Now you have hope of something better. I had 30+ years of symptoms undiagnosed and am healing. There is hope for you and your family. If the doctor isn't 100% cooperative now, just let it go and let her watch all that happens with you. She should never have to suffer the same degree as you did, because...
  10. How is it going Sheri?
  11. Has the child been checked for parasites?
  12. My pizza would have an almond flour or coconut flour crust, mango sauce (instead of tomato) and toppings.
  13. Don't you get consequences that are really difficult to deal with? I ate 30+ years of gluten undiagnosed. I drug through life brain fogged and fatigued not really living, but not dying yet. I hope you choose not to live like that. A healthy energetic life is what I hope you will shoot for. Dee
  14. I have DQ8 and have celiac also! Dee
  15. I never thought of that and I think quite possibly we should add this to the NEWBIE list. Change your toothbrush. I also wash my toothbrush once a week with hydrogen peroxide or in the dishwasher. I am just not sure these techniques could totally rid it of gluten if it were there. Dee
  16. My food is really delicious. Don't you have coconut milk smoothies with frozen banana, fruits, carmelized vegetables and vegetable chips? I have been watching Paleo cooking shows, a little bacon for flavoring goes along way. I am now 5:7 and around 150-. Dee
  17. I would keep a record of your symptoms and make sure to present these to the doctor as you go. Possibly you could keep track of your weight, blood pressure, and any other objective number that may help back up what you are saying. I hope you will get some definitive answers. Dee
  18. I read in the book Say Goodbye to illness by Dr. Devi Nambudripad that one can experience pain in lower right quadrant that is due to food sensitivities. I was thought to have gallbladder issues, but my episodes of problems ended when I switched my diet to exclude nearly everything I ate over 30 years of undiagnosed celiac. Dee
  19. Food intolerances/allegies can cause gallbladder like pain. I read this in the book, Say Goodbye to Illness. by Dr. Devi Nambudripad. My gallbladder showed stones, but no blockages or inflammation. I had symptoms that could be gallbladder, but these went away when I avoided nearly all foods I ate while I had leaky gut. I wish you well in figuring out...
  20. Corn makes me bloat and swell (similar to gluten reaction) I suggest staying away from corn (since you have this problem) and all products made with it; which is a large task. There are many names for corn and its derivatives; many medications include it. You know that it is possible corn chips have wheat, but I guess you checked that? I have heard that...
  21. I lost body hair which is now starting to grow at a rapid rate. I finally pointed out the advantages as I didn't have to shave. Now, I guess I feel glad to buy a shaver for the first time in years! My problem almost certainly had to do with other allergies as when I began treatment for those the hair started back in earnest. Dee
  22. Welcome Shari F, Some of the damage is reversible and I hope you will continue to enjoy improvement. The gluten challenge is several weeks; I knew that I had to avoid gluten, and felt it was unethical (for me) to go back on gluten. Whatever you do, I hope it will bring healing. I wish you well.
  23. There is a rash connected with celiac that we usually call "DH." Also, one can react with hives, but I believe that would be considered an allergy. You must avoid gluten 100% in order to get well from celiac. This means you do not eat anything which could have touched gluten or some utensil that touched gluten. Some people dine carefully in restaurants...
  24. I am super-sensitive(with allergies) and the doctor did tell me that I eat ONLY at home. I have extended that to a make-shift kitchen (say at a hotel) (away from normal food prep area) and my car. I have an oven for the car and use my own electric skillet in locations with electric sockets. I tell any hostesses in advance of my predicament, making sure...
