  1. The skin thing could be many issues from a deficiency like magnesium or essential fatty oil, allergies (many members get new allergies soon after diagnosis) to thyroid issues. You might try magnesium supplementation, what you need depends on your BMs, D and loose stools then Doctors Best Magnesium Glycinate, if constipation (not going daily) then Natural...
  2. In addition to cycling ladies info, the constipation is something I had growing up, mine is believed to have partially due to magensium deficiency. I started taking Natural Vitality Calm, you have to dose to tolerance with it, IE start off at 1/4tsp (2g) a day and up the dose 2g each day til she gets loose stools then take the dose down 2grams. It will help...
  3. I always have some Zevia Ginger Beer in my house, never had issues with it. Does not really taste like a beer, but I like it. >,< Beer has always made me sick so the taste is disgusting to my palette anyway.
  4. So I got a good deal at a restaurant auction for a prep center brand new at 1/30th retail. Seems the manufacturer of the custom unit forgot something looking at design notes....it was supposed to be modular to fit in a building. Well it is one solid 97"x48" stainless unit welded to a steel frame, which requires removing my door, removing the door frame, and...
  5. Almond Butter Muffins 1 Cup (240g) David's Paleo Kitchen Almond Butter of Choice (Warmed Slightly See Notes) 3 Large Eggs Whisked (room Temp) 1/4 Cup (50G) Swerve Granular 1 Tsp Baking Powder. 1. Preheat Oven to 350G 2. Mix together the eggs and almond butter til well combined in a large bowl 3. In a small bowl whisk together the Swerve...
  6. Had some rearrangements and upgrades >.< Mainly the new prep station installed and figured I Would cover the beverage station on the other side of the fridge. The Extra prep station has been great for adding more counter space, storage, organization and helping me to prepare stuff before setting up to cook and sell food at farmer markets.
  7. I have a mix of things in my house, bakery, kitchen. I can cover a few of mine and why, Colander, I have a big stainless steel one for most uses as it can hold weight. I have a grain colander by OXO out of plastic for smaller things like konjac noodles or anything else. Cutting boards, while I do have wooden ones installed on my prep tables, I always...
  8. I would say make your own over buying any premade. You want to cook stuff to mush, and keep it simple avoiding all the additives. I have a few recipes for soups. Carbs, Starches, sugars can make bloating worse. Make it simple to digest, think crockpot/roast meats in liquid for 2-8 hours low heat til tender and fall apart, almost as much time for veggies...
  9. Try these you can find them at wholefood and amazon https://lesserevil.com/paleopuffs/
  10. Well, my mother and father poisoned me by accident so many times I still to this day will not eat anything they do not fix in my kitchen (whole house is gluten free), with ingredients I supply, with me in there. Oh we still cook together a few times a year but I would never trust her alone to make anything for me without oversight.
  11. First few years, I tried a few, found most made mistakes, and only found 2 dishes from one restraunt I trusted after the manager showed me how they did it (roasted fish, or veggies, they used a conveyor oven and put my food on foil sheets and ran it through it), The other place closed. I would also often bring my own food in, own utensils (I often eat with...
  12. I sometimes wonder if my ataxia did something that effected my body temp, I spent a few months with a constant 101-104F fever, docs found nothing wrong, or sign my body was dealing with anything. It has been tapering down to a average 99F this last week. There was also the nerve issues a chiropractor confirmed, with damage nerves around the T7 and a few...
  13. From what I see often enough here, is damaged intestines from celiac lets SIBO sit in easy. And many times the pain and issues from the gluten cover up the pain/gas/bloat from the SIBO and it does not become apparent until one a GFD for awhile.
  14. Going back to the SIBO, there is a very specific diet for it, where you avoid all carbs, remove all sugars/starches (fruits, potatoes, etc) avoid certain veggies. Essentially a specific food list version of a keto diet to starve the bad bacteria and get them in check. Depending on type of gut flora some us certain probiotics to get the good bacteria to set...
  15. Yep, little things, like always having those pimples, (I got them on my back also), swollen looks (I had it full body). You will probably notice a bunch of little things and quirks you used to take for granted about your body change for the better.
  16. First thoughts, sounds like typical celiac for your and the child. Child should be tested while still on gluten, at least blood test. Blood and mucus in stool sounds like my Ulcerative Colitis I got in addition to celiac, it has it's own set of triggers, for me this includes gluten, fructose, glucose, spices, soy, and some other random things. Intially...
  17. I was raised to not let anything go to waste, this was further enforced by spending a few years so broke I was living off of local flora and what ever I could get. So when it comes to cooking, I do new recipes every few weeks, and the mistakes get turned into something else for me to eat. Here are some examples of what to do with mistakes. Baked goods...
  18. I have meal prep containers (fitness ones are great with meal prep coolers and shakers https://www.amazon.com/BloominGoods-Leakproof-Portion-Container-Reusable/dp/B073DVHZCB/ https://www.amazon.com/ThinkFit-Insulated-Containers-Reusable-Shoulder/dp/B01HH3AMIM/ Ideas, I do egg dishes often, quiches, omelets etc, My own gluten free baked goods...
  19. Interesting, sounds like the second biopsy with gluten-free but with oats might be a way of testing to see if you react to oat the same way (10% of celiacs also react to oats even Gluten-free ones). Love how they embrace the life long and absolute, oddly we have had many controversial stories of what GI docs have told members.
  20. So I had my follow up appointment with my new GI to go over my pathology report. There are no signs of celiac or UC, he said there were no medications he needed to prescribe and that my treatment regime was working great. He suggested my random digestive issues could be a new sensitivity or a intolerance or even hormone related like with insulin. He was...
  21. Another option is to up it to 7 eggs, mix in 2tbps of almond flour with this and beat them with the milk before mixing it for a baked in crust. Alternatively you could make the almond flour pie crust and put this on top. >.< a few forks of hash spikes my glucose into the 400s, so I will never have a chance to try using it for a crust.
  22. So celiac confirmed...read the newbie 101 section, stop eating out, and make sure your food prep area is safe and gluten free. Dairy issues....I started with lactose intolerance over a decade ago, I ignored it like most, then celiac diagnosis, then I got a whey allergy. I dropped real dairy but I eat vegan cheeses daily, and almond and cashew milks. I can...
  23. I often suggest making crustless quiches to people, here is one of the base recipes I have used. 10 Slices of Turkey Bacon, Cooked and chopped (I did a mix of crispy and chewy cooked) 1lb bag of frozen spinach thawed and squeezed of excess water (Take a tiny bit of a corner off thaw in the sink and squeeze water out the corner) 1/4 onion sliced very...
  24. Most have ill-conceived notions of celiac and its symptoms. Some bad research or assumptions can leave many to think it is just a childhood disease, that it can be grown out of, that it must present with diarrhea, and people must be skinny. There is also the fact there is no money in treating the disease....A gluten-free diet is not a prescription they can...
  25. I would try a different doctor before going gluten-free and getting the FULL celiac panel done or at least one of the more comprehensive online test. Having celiac on record would qualify for special meal plans and accommodations in schools etc. Getting scopes done might also shed some light, but unsure on the experience for a younger child. https://celiac...
