Right, soy is naturally gluten-free. But it is often used in soy sauce which usually has gluten in it. So you have to check ingredient labels. The other possible issue with soy is that it is a top 8 allergen in the USA. So lots of people have reactions to it. -

There is a genetic aspect of celiac disease that also makes it more likely to have some other AI (auto-immune) conditions. Hi Katie, I get blood and mucus from eating dairy. So it is possible to develop other food reactions besides gluten. Another thing to consider, are the medicines you are taking gluten-free? Most of the time medicines are gluten-free, but it doesn't hurt to verify. -

Hi, The foods we need to avoid as celiacs are wheat, rye, barley, and oats (possibly). Only a small percentage of celiacs react to oats. But oats are often cross contaminated so that's a good reason to avoid them for a few months anyway. You should also avoid dairy for a few months.

Hi, DH (dermatitis herpetiformis) is an itchy rash caused by celiac disease.You should keep eating gluten until all celiac testing is completed. Usually testing is a blood antibodies test first, followed by an endoscopy later. -

Hi Nikkster, They often call the celiac testing a celiac panel. There is also a celiac screening test they sometimes do first, the ttg. You want to get the full celiac panel if possible. Not everyone shows up on just the screening test. -
