  7. Interesting question because those with celiac disease have an immune system that seems to be over active. I’ve not seen any studies in the past 20 years that support the idea that triggering your immune system by eating gluten could prevent other infectious diseases. It’s not impossible, but I tend to doubt it.
  8. Celiac.com 06/20/2020 - Being stuck at home during Covid-19 can take the fun out of spring. However, if you have a chicken, some mustard, honey and a few spices, you can cook some joy right back into your world, and this is just the recipe...

  10. Given some of the horror stories I've seen over the years, it's far better that you know about this and treat it than continue eating gluten and not know about it. Here are some things that will be helpful:
  11. Welcome to the club! 😉 For some people villi recovery can take up to two years, but as you know the important thing is that your diet is 100% gluten-free from now on, otherwise you will have setbacks and it could take longer.
  12. Yes, it’s time to get her a blood test for celiac disease, this article may be helpful. There are also inexpensive home test kits available.
  13. I’ve never heard of gluten in fabric, and I assume you won’t be eating them, so I’ll go out on a limb here and say yes. To be even more sure perhaps wash them before use.
  14. Progresso makes a line of gluten-free soups, including tomato. They should be widely available. Be sure to check the ingredients: https://www.progresso.com/products/vegetable-classic-tomato-basil/
  15. In this case it likely means that you were not eating gluten for a long enough time before taking the blood test. The levels build up over time and those who are being tested need to consume gluten daily for 4-6 weeks before being tested for them:

  17. If you have celiac disease and are having nervous system issues you should have your doctor refer you to a neurologist who could examine you for ataxia. Here is more info but antibody levels play a part, as well as a neurological examination and tests:
  18. If you were not eating gluten for 6 months, and then only ate gluten a few days before this test, it's likely that these results are not too accurate. @cyclinglady is right about the one positive results should be enough for you to move to a biopsy, but you need to be eating gluten daily for at least two weeks before the biopsy, and some believe longer:

  21. Welcome to the forum! With all the great gluten-free products available hopefully you will not need to cheat on your diet, and we definitely don't recommend doing that because the health consequences can be pretty bad, even if you did not have severe symptoms, which it sounds to me like this might be true in your case. It is up to you whether or not...
